John O’Connor
John O’Connor is one of our founding partners, as well as the leader of our Criminal Team.
John graduated from the University of Adelaide in 1989 and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in Western Australia in 1990.
John has over 30 years’ of extensive experience in criminal law; he has appeared as counsel in numerous court cases in the Supreme Court, District Court, Magistrates Court and Children's Court of Western Australia. He has also appeared as instructing solicitor in superior courts including the High Court of Australia. In addition, John has substantial experience in many other areas of law such as commercial law, personal injuries, extradition and property confiscation.
Prior to establishing MGM O’Connor Lawyers, John operated his own firm for 15 years. He has also worked for the Aboriginal Legal Service of Western Australia and a number of private law firms.
John approaches all cases with integrity and empathy; he believes it is essential that his clients feel heard and understood. John’s understanding of criminal law, practice and procedure in Western Australia is extensive and well known.
